Fernando Sims

President

Born and raised in metro Atlanta, Fernando's interest in funeral service can be tied to his maternal grandfather, Elijah Sims, who established the first Sims Funeral Home in 1943.  Fernando studied marketing at the University of West Georgia before working for Delta Air Lines and then starting his own corporate transportation company in the early 2000s, which he continues to operate while serving as the figurehead of Sims Funeral Homes.   A true Georgia sports fan, he's always in the know about the state's upcoming class of football or basketball athletes and ready to talk shop on Georgia Bulldog football.

Cynthia Sims

Administrative Assistant

Cynthia Sims has been a life long resident of the South Fulton area and is retired from the Fulton County School System.  She provides administrative support at our Decatur location and also works as a lady attendant at our other facilities.  Cynthia witnessed funeral service at a young age, growing up in and around her father Elijah's funeral home.  She is a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in the Ben Hill community.

Lydia Gearhart

Chief Experience Officer

As CEO, Lydia is responsible for the overall experience families have when they choose Sims.  A dedication to the finite details and a work ethic born of her upbringing in small town Pennsylvania make her a driving force in just about everything we do.  She graduated cum laude from Jefferson State Community College's Funeral Service Education program in 2017 and is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer.  Lydia previously earned her B.A. in Womens and Environmental Studies from Allegheny College.

Patricia Torres

Bilingual Family Liaison

Originally from Argentina, Patricia earned her United States citizenship in 2017.  With a background in legal and courier work, she oversees service arrangements and document procurement for families who choose international repatriation.  Patricia lives in the Austell area with her daughter, Makayla, and son, Dylan and serves as Treasurer of her PTA.  She also attends St. Thomas the Apostle in Smyrna, Georgia and is pursuing an Accounting Degree at Chattahoochee Technical College.  An eternal optimist, she also makes a great cup of mate.

Meredith Petricelli

Meredith is a recent graduate of Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service and is working towards completing her apprenticeship.  Often the friendly voice you'll hear on the other side of the phone when you call us, Meredith is responsible to overseeing administrative tasks and service details.  A music lover, she spends her free time concert hopping and watching Rick and Mortie with her rescue dog Ellie Mae.
